They did it! Thanks to families, teachers and friends from all over, they have completed their collection! They are so excited and proud of their success! It also makes a great display in our classroom. The added bonus is that many plates came with a great story!
Our New York plate was donated by a student teacher studying at Radford University. This plate came from her father who is a police officer in New York City. He wasn't in the city at the time of the 9/11 attacks, but he did spend the many weeks after that at Ground Zero searching for survivors and helping with the clean up efforts. This plate is very special to our class because we spent a great deal of time studying this part of our country's history earlier this year.
Hokies, Hokies, everywhere! That is one lesson we learned through this project. The Missouri plate was donated by a Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alum who spent some time stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, Missouri. We also had a student in our class bring in the VATECH1 Colorado plate that belongs to his family.
Fun + Challenging = Learning!!
