Our Fifty States Project has begun! We have made it through the "A" states. We started our journey through the United States of America with Alabama! We opened a care package filled with brochures highlighting the many activities you can do there. I think the kids thought that Space Camp was the one that looked the most fun!
We also learned about the rivalry between the University of Alabama and Auburn. "Roll Tide" is now a common way that we greet each other at school and at home! (Not all parents are happy about this new development!)
The next state was Alaska! We received two packages from Alaska and they were filled with treats!! There was even gold inside one of them! We didn't know that Alaska had a Gold Rush just like California! We also found videos, playing cards with wildlife survival tips on them, maps, candy, books, a fossil, salmonberry jelly and salmon inside. The kids were a little skeptical about the jelly until they realized it wasn't made from actual salmon! It was sweet and delicious!
Last but not least, we learned about Arizona. We didn't have a package come from Arizona so we used books from our classroom to research all about it! The flag was a favorite, so colorful! We also enjoyed seeing pictures of the Grand Canyon. What a beautiful state!
Next stop: Arkansas! Stay tuned!!
